The Atlanta Braves travel down South to take on Tampa Bay on Monday night in the first of a two-game series. The Braves took two of three against the Mets this past weekend, while the Rays hosted the Blue Jays and own the last two.
The Braves will send right-hander Mike Foltynewicz to the mound against right-hander Tyler Glasnow.
Atlanta was shut out on Friday against Jacob deGrom and the Mets 1-0. They followed that with a 5-3 win on Saturday and exploded to a 14-1 victory on Sunday. In the win on Sunday, Atlanta produced 11 extra base hits and 17 hits. They received home runs from Marcell Ozuna, Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies. They also received good news on the COVID-19 front with left-hander Will Smith, who tested positive earlier, but should be activated later this week.
Foltynewicz had a disappointing 2019 season, going 8-6 with a 4.54 ERA. He also had elbow issues and was demoted to Triple-A. He appeared to rebound later in the season, going 6-1 with a 2.65 ERA, until a nightmarish start in Game 5 of the NLDS, where he gave up seven runs. He is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in one career start against Tampa Bay, which took place in 2015.
Even though TB pitch Glasnow is a pitching machine our sources say he is not 100% healthy and the Rays’ bats were very quite over the weekend vs Toronto. Look for the Braves to get the W as live +130 dogs.
