NBA Picks: Toronto Raptors at Washington Wizards
Toronto was in action on Friday night against Boston in an early season clash of the two favorites in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors now have to go on the road to face Washington and play their third game in four nights. Toronto was one of the league’s better teams when it came to playing in these situations last season. The Raptors were 9-5 in the second game of back to backs last season and saw their offense improve from their season mark of 111.7 points a game to 112.5 per game in those contests. There was a slight defensive letdown as they gave up 105.2 points per game in the second game of a back to back situation compared to their season average of 103.9 points per contest. Toronto was 22-19 ATS on the road in the regular season last year: the over was also a slight favorite in road games, going 22-19.

NBA PICKS: San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers
Portland showed no mercy against the new Los Angeles Lakers, blowing up their defense and taking the contest 128-119. Neither team shot very well from downtown, but they still ended up hitting six more 3’s and went a very efficient 27-for-29 from the free throw line. Their high-octane offense was able to put up 100 shot attempts in regulation and they hit 44 of them, and they overcame the Lakers having a 34-12 edge in fast break points. San Antonio’s offense struggled at times last season, and it was ultimately their downfall in a five-game series to Golden State in the postseason. They look rejuvenated after their first contest against Minnesota, taking it 112-108. They took control of the contest midway through the fourth quarter and held on thanks to shooting 43 percent from the field, owning a 52-46 edge in rebounding, and making 11 3-pointers
