Line Movements:

There hasn’t been much in the way of movement as far as the line goes for this contest. After opening as a six-point favorite on the road for this one, Nebraska now sits as a 6.5 or seven-point favorite at most sportsbooks as of Friday morning. 57 percent of the bets ATS are backing the Scarlet Knights with the points at home in this contest.

The total for this contest has moved down slightly this week. After opening at 55 points, the total has moved down to 52 or 52.5 points depending on your choice of sportsbooks. A slim majority, 53 percent, of the bets on the total are expecting this contest to wind up over the total.

Game-time Weather: Temperature at kickoff is expected to be in the mid-20s for this contest under clear skies. The temperature will fall to near 20 degrees by the time the game comes to a close with the real-feel temperature hovering around that mark as well. There is no precipitation in the forecast for this one but it will be a crisp evening in the Garden State. Winds are expected from the northwest around five miles an hour with the gusts topping out at six miles per hour.

Cornhuskers Fall Short Against Golden Gophers

After making it to a bowl game for nine years in a row, the Nebraska Cornhusker will now be missing out on the postseason for the 4th year in a row. Scott Frost was brought in to turn around Nebraska’s fortunes, and that has not happened yet as he will enter this game having gone 11-20 in his two-plus years with the team. Should Nebraska have another bad season next year, then Frost could be on the hit spot as this is a school that is not used to having so much futility in a row. The Cornhuskers enter this game off a tough 24-17 home loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, which drops them to 2-5.The offense did not play well in the game, but the defense had a decent showing. Nebraska did allow 387 yards in the contest, including 206 yards on the ground, but they also allowed just 24 points, which was the fewest since their 3rd game of the season. The run defense is now 76th in the nation, allowing 175.1 ypg on the ground, but they will be facing a Rutger offense that is 88th in the country in rushing. Nebraska is also 63rd against the pass and 76th in points allowed, giving up 30.6 ppg.

The offense has not been good this year as the Huskers enter this game ranked 98th in total offense and 105th in scoring, putting up just 22.4 ppg. The passing game comes in ranked 105th in the land, but they will be facing a Rutger defense that is 80th against the pass.Adrian Martinezhas not had a great season, throwing for just 800 yards with three TDs and an INT, but we note that he leads the team in rushing with 384 yards and rushing TDs with five. He could have a solid game against a Scarlet Knights’ defense that has struggled to stop the run. We do note that he is nursing a shoulder injury and but is expected to play. If he can’t go, then we will see Luke McCaffrey, who was 0-2 with one INT in last week’s loss against the Golden Gophers.
