Patriots-Jets Under Trend 9-0

FacebookTwitterEmail

The unbeaten Patriots will take on a familiar foe Monday night as they visit the Jets at 8:15 p.m. ET. With the total sitting at only 43, is the over a decent play for bettors or is there more value in the under given how stout New England’s defense has been this year?

Game Snapshot

475 New England Patriots (-9.5) at 476 New York Jets (+9.5); O/U 43

8:15 p.m. ET, Monday, October 21, 2019

MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey

Public Betting Trends

According to our NFL Football Public Betting Chart page, the Patriots are receiving 57% of the betting tickets from online sportsbooks.

New England Patriots

Julian Edelman (chest, ribs) is questionable for the Patriots’ Monday night matchup against the Jets. Edelman is fully expected to suit up after practicing all week. He’s had little trouble with the Jets in recent history. Overall, Tom Brady’s longtime No. 1 WR has posted 5-54-0, 8-83-0, 5-89-0, 4-84-1, 5-69-1 and 7-62-1 receiving lines in his last six games against the Patriots’ divisional “rival”. Edelman could see all the targets he can handle with each of Josh Gordon (knee), Matt LaCosse (knee) and Ryan Izzo (concussion) all sidelined.

New York Jets

Jets G Kelechi Osemele (shoulder) is doubtful for the team’s Monday night matchup against the Patriots. Osemele wants to have surgery on his shoulder, but team doctors have ruled he could play through the injury and delay any procedures until after the season. The Jets are now planning on fining their left guard for conduct detrimental to the team if he opts to sit out. Not great! Osemele would likely miss the remainder of the season if he ultimately undergoes surgery.

NFL Betting Trends

New England

The under is a perfect 9-0 in the Patriots’ last nine road games when facing an opponent with a losing home record.

New York

The over is 4-1 in the Jets’ last five games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

Prediction

The under has been very profitable in recent Patriots-Jets installments, cashing in six of the previous seven meetings and in four of the last five games in New York. The under is also 11-5 in the Jets’ last 16 divisional games and 5-2 in their last seven appearances on Monday night football.

On the other side, the under is 8-2 in the Patriots’ last 10 divisional games, is 13-5 in their last 18 games overall and is 23-9 in their last 32 road games. Given the issues New York has along its offensive line, coupled with how dominating New England has been defensively through the first six weeks of the season, this should be a low-scoring game.
