Milwaukee vs Cincinnati 962 MIL (+105) vs 961 CIN Analysis: The Reds have taken the first two games of this three-game series with the Brewers, as they move closer to their first division title since 1995 ("magic number" is down to four!). Cincinnati leads the NL in BA (.271) and runs scored (4.91 per game) and is batting .306 and averaging 6.3 RPG while winning nine of 10 against Milwaukee this season. Has this game "already been played?" I think not. Johnny Cueto is 12-5 with a 3.35 ERA in 29 starts this season and on the year, has received a league-high 6.24 RPG in support. However, the team has surprisingly (considering his run support numbers) gone just 4-8 in his no decisions. Cincy is a modest 16-13 in his 29 outings, winning just $119 vs the moneyline. Cueto his winless in his last four starts (team is 1-3) and he's lost his last three. He's hasn't pitched poorly in those three games (2.84 ERA) but the Reds have failed to get him his usual support, scoring just seven runs. Opposing Cueto is Randy Wolf (12-11, 4.32 ERA), who is coming off his first shut out of 2010 (struck out six and threw a three-hitter in Friday's 3-0 victory at San Francisco). The veteran left-hander has been impressive since giving up career highs of 12 runs and 13 hits in a 15-3 loss at Pittsburgh on July 21, going 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA in 10 starts (team is 6-4). He is 9-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 18 career starts against the Reds (teams are 12-6) and I believe Wolf and the Brewers are worth a shot in this game.
Rangers vs Angels Angels +110 vs Texas I know Texas is nearly certain to make its first postseason appearance since 1999, but the Angels would love nothing more than to put a scare into the Rangers, who pretty much diminished the Halos' chances of making the playoffs this year. If the Angels can keep beating Texas, and the A's can knock off dismembered Chicago, it would make this weekend's series between the Oakland and the Rangers awfully interesting. I'll bank on the Angels' Danny Haren to get the job done, as he's 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA in his last five starts. On the flipside, can't ignore the fact Texas' C.J. Wilson is 0-2 with a 6.61 ERA in three September starts. List both and play the Halos. 3♦ LOS ANGELES Click to Register for Today's Free Picks!

Working fine here at Belmont and this 10 furlong trip should put him ... FREE NFL Pick Tony Salvatore 11/20/10 Cleveland - The Browns are playing very well. Jacksonville is off two emotional wins and might come out flat here. Cleveland is never flat. Fundamentally they have the ground and pound rushing attack to sustain rookie QB McCoy, and an underrated defense. Consider that Jacksonville offense struggled last week against leagues worst defense (Houston), don't see them faring any better here. My call is Cleveland outright wins on the road. FREE TREND TO LOOK AND CONSIDER! UNDER TEAM: ST. LOUIS CARDINALS O/U THIS SEASON: 52-40-3 O/U LAST WEEK: 1-2 THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE: At the Mets for three, at the Pirates for three.
THE SKINNY: The numbers say take the over when St. Louis takes the field, but the Cardinals have been light on offense of late, and they bear watching as an under team as the dog days of summer approach.
They scored just 10 runs in a three-gamer vs. Cincinnati over the weekend, and have scored three or fewer six times in July as they prepare to open a series with New York on Tuesday.
Again, with the names they have -- Lance Berkman, Matt Holliday, and Albert Pujols -- St. Louis screams out as an over team. But they’re not getting it done, and as the games get a little more serious in the NL Central -- with Milwaukee and Pittsburgh appearing like they’re going to hang around through the summer -- you might grab some serious value going the other way with the Cardinals.
And the pitching figures to be there, so that will help, too. The Cardinals have three pitchers, in fact, with ERAs under 4.00: Jaime Garcia (3.11), Kyle Lohse (3.32), and Chris Carpenter (3.69). Click to Register for Today's Free Picks & Trends! | |
