With the sports world still, largely, at a full stop, our attention turns toward the future and where sports bettors are placing their wagers around the 2021 Super Bowl LV.

New to sports betting? A future bet is a wager on an event down the road, often many months ahead. The odds are typically longer and more profitable if you’re able to nail the winning ticket.

Super Bowl 55: Top 10 teams on total money bet

1. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs (+600) are the defending champions and early favorite to win it all again next season. Having Patrick Mahomes under center is a huge help, plus this team retains most of their key ingredients that made the 12-4 ’19 season a success.

A $100 futures bet on the Chiefs would return a $600 profit at +600 odds should the Chiefs repeat as Super Bowl Champions.

2. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers (+800) were the NFC’s representative in last season’s Super Bowl and return a good portion of their talented team that went 13-3 a season ago. Can this be the year they take it to the next level and win it all? You’d return $80 profit on every $10 wagered if they do.

3. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens (+700) were picked by many to win it all a year ago following a 14-2 regular season that saw them become the AFC’s No. 1 seed. Despite a early departure from the playoffs, they remain one of the better squads in the AFC and QB Lamar Jackson has quickly proved to be a difference maker. His third year could be the charm. For every $10 wagered on Baltimore to win it all, you’d see $70 in profit with a Super Bowl victory.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers adding QB Tom Brady put them on the map for early Super Bowl bets. The odds on the Bucs became much shorter once Brady agreed to terms, so you’re not going to see quite as much reward now (+1600) that those putting $50 down on them at +6500 (to win $3,300) did, but $160 profit on every $10 wagered is still a nice payday should Brady win his seventh Super Bowl championship.

5. New Orleans Saints

The Saints (+1200) re-signed QB Drew Brees and look to make another run at it after a 13-3 2019 campaign. They are talented across the board and return most of their key starters. Time is ticking on Brees and his division seems to have gotten stronger with Brady joining the Bucs.

6. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys (+2000), often a popular yet questionable futures wager, were just a .500 squad a year ago. They were able retain WR Amari Cooper and QB Dak Prescott was tagged as their franchise player. Tied to RB Ezekiel Elliott, the team’s young trio of playmakers should be poised to take the next step together.

7. New England Patriots

No Brady, no problem? The Patriots (+2000) remain one of the top-10 teams in the eyes of the oddsmakers to win a championship even if Brady has taken his talent to Florida. Bill Belichick has a proven system in place, but will another quarterback be able to step right in and guide the Patriots deep into the postseason? They’ll need more weapons on offense if that’s going to happen. A $10 wager here returns $200 in profit, and in Belichick I trust.

8. Seattle Seahawks

QB Russell Wilson guided the Seahawks (+2000) to an 11-5 record a year ago, despite questionable talent around him. Some off-season moves and maturity from some of the team’s younger players could have Seattle in the thick of things again.

9. New York Giants

Say what? Chalk this one up to every team has a new life and sense of hope during the spring. The Giants (+8000) are among the teams with the longest odds, oddly enough tied with the Dolphins and Jets. While $800 profit on every $10 wagered is nothing to ignore, it still feels like this would be a foolish bet at this time.

10. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders (+6000), who now call Las Vegas home, are still re-tooling in head coach Jon Gruden’s image. Will a change of scenery and new impact rookies be enough to get them over the hump? They were just 7-9 a year ago and still play in a competitive AFC West, which has the Chiefs sitting firmly on top.
